Celebrate the Queen's Jubilee and more!

What better way to celebrate Her Majesty, The Queen's Platinum Jubilee than with a glass of fizz, and a look at some of the treasured works of art that are entrusted to her in the Royal Collection? There are just a few days left to book your place!

On Wednesday, 8 June, Lizzy Rowe will explore some of the highlights of the vast and wide-ranging collection assembled by the royal family over the centuries. Moving from magnificent painted portraits by Van Dyck and Vermeer to exquisite miniatures by Hans Holbein and sketches by Leonardo da Vinci. Lots of these can be seen at Windsor Castle or the Queen’s Gallery in London but this talk takes you behind the scenes to tell you stories of how this art collection was formed. Over the next few days, our screens are going to be full of the familiar London landmarks associated with Trooping the Colour, Buckingham Palace and other famous places. There's so much more to the City of London that we hardly ever see, and which has a rich history.

Here's your chance to find out more about those hidden gems in the City. Join us on our Walking Tour of the City of London on Tuesday, 19 July. A Blue Badge guide will take us through the streets, pointing out places of interest and sharing their knowledge. In the afternoon, we will visit the Museum of London Docklands to learn more about how the Docklands helped shape the London we know today.

How we have missed our crafty events! The days when we could sit down with similar-minded members from across many WIs, learn something new whilst enjoying each other's company.

On Tuesday, 15 November, we will get the chance to do that once again with our Technique Taster Time. There's the choice of six crafts to try: sugar paste flowers, embellished flower brooch, Christmas cards, natural decorations, a small-wired celebration Posy, knitting with beads and sequins. It may seem a while away, but places are going fast so you can pop over to the booking page and secure your place by clicking here.
