Chair's Letter - October 2024

I can’t believe it is October. I am rather fond of the Autumn

– I was meeting a friend for coffee in a well-known garden

centre and enjoyed looking at all the items in the garden

centre area in the lovely Autumn shades. I was very tempted by a beautiful orange velvet pumpkin but held back.

Now please don’t hold back on your attendance at the OFWI Annual Meeting. I am delighted to confirm that we will be returning to Worton Hall on Wednesday 19 March 2025. It is such a lovely venue and the Events Team make us very welcome. We are planning to have several stalls (don’t hold back on those purchases)! Arrangements for the day are coming along nicely. I will tell you more next month!!

My next expedition out into a well-known supermarket led me to meet with a WI member from a neighbouring WI who I had known for some time. We had a lovely catch-up, but

she did say she hadn’t realised that I was OFWI Chair (nothing greatly to worry about on that score) but she did ask whether a particular event was being organised. So please - as I said last month - Presidents share the information that is in Oxfordshire Inspires - I know lots of you have many events organised within your own WIs which is fantastic but if you can share news from both OFWI and NFWI, members are then aware of all that is going on across

the whole organisation.

As you will have seen in September’s magazine it is election time for the Board of Trustees. As inevitably happens, things change and the make-up of the Board changes, but your Board needs you! (Remember that famous poster)! So do put yourself forward – your WI has all the paperwork. It’s not scary but it is hugely rewarding.

Right, time I was away to a well-known garden centre.

Love and best wishes.

Tracy
