Chair's Letter - September 2025

I hope you have had a really lovely summer – well it has
certainly been warm enough! Possibly too warm but let’s
not complain. I thought as we find ourselves nearly halfway through the WI year, that we should remind ourselves of what our WI membership includes – eleven monthly meetings which can include a speaker or an activity all with refreshments and possibly a raffle. Your WI might also have subgroups – walking, craft, book clubs all for you to enjoy. Plenty of fun, friendship, socialising and education. On that note, don’t forget The Learning Hub which offers a variety of online courses, talks and workshops. There is also the vital campaigning aspect that is a hugely important part of our
membership. Monthly copy of Oxfordshire Inspires magazine with all you need to know about what is happening WI-wise in Oxfordshire – information on events and trips together with news from fellow WIs in our Federation. There is also WI Life magazine which brings news from all the federations across England and Wales. How lucky are we!
I know that for some of you going to your monthly meeting provides all you need but there is plenty more just waiting for you should you decide to investigate further. As I have
said previously – the WI is like a chocolate box, dive in and try something different!
We are doing well with plans for the OFWI Annual Meeting, and I will be giving you more information next month. We will then have the NFWI Annual Meeting in June on Zoom.
(not in person, that comes along in 2027!) In the meantime, do consider organising a “Watch Party”. You can do that as an individual WI, or you might like to consider something in your groups. Right, I am away to let you get back into the swing of WI meetings and enjoy all those wonderful activities that you have planned.
