Chair's Letter - March 2026

A lovely month that hails the start of Spring and hopefully we can now bid farewell to snow and ice as this is a busy month in WI terms, with no time for de-icing and slipping round pavements. I am looking forward to seeing you at Worton Hall on the 25th. I can’t believe it! Another Annual Meeting is nearly upon us and we have two very exciting speakers and a virtual parade of your lovely banners! Not to be missed.
March was the first month of the Roman calendar and
symbolises new beginnings. An interesting fact; did you
know each year March and June ends on the same day of the week? Always something to learn in the WI. On that note, I hope you have looked at VIA – the new NFWI learning hub. Well worth a peek! And, of course, we celebrate International Women’s Day in March.
It is also a busy time for you in your WI with many of you holding your Annual Meetings. I am really pleased to be acting as an independent teller for some of my local WIs. So, if you are standing down from a role within your WI – thank you. If you are staying – thank you and if you are starting a new role – thank you. Wherever we are in our WI life you play an important part in the life of your WI. My own WI went out recently for lunch and a natter – I learnt something new (not sure I should mention that here!) and laughed the whole time. What more could you ask for – a mixture of both new members and those who have paid a subscription or two, but it made me so grateful to belong to such a wonderful organisation.
And now to introduce you another member of the Board of Trustees, Linda Mustill. Linda joined the Board three years ago but many of you will remember her as Federation Secretary. Linda over to you. “In addition to the day to day running of the main board, I really
enjoy working on one-off projects with a couple of trustees on a specific task or initiative. I’m also proud to have represented the county at inter federation events in neighbouring counties
as well as attending Oxford city civic events and visiting WIs.”
Enjoy new beginnings.
With love and best wishes.
