We have a real treat this year for the Out & About Christmas trip. After a leisurely start we arrive at our destination - Winchester, a city steeped in history, which was England’s ancient capital and former seat of King Alfred the Great. Winchester is a treasure trove of history and heritage, and you will find numerous places of interest to visit within its confines. Notably the Great Hall, home to the legendary King Arthur's Round Table. It is the birthplace of the modern game of cricket and, of course, the final resting place of author Jane Austen. Winchester with its wonderful architecture continues to inspire many craft makers and artists who live in the vicinity, and examples of sculpture can be found across the city.
