About the Event
Many of you will remember Barbara Gray who sadly died in 2019. To those of us who knew Barbara well she was a loyal friend who changed the life of many WI ladies all over Oxfordshire. Education was her priority and her vision to modernise the WI was remarkable, considering she never owned a computer. Barbara was Federation Chairman three times and chaired every sub committee throughout the 50 plus years in the WI, for which she was awarded the MBE in 2016. Her input to OFWI was exceptional. We have received several donations in her memory, but due to the Pandemic we have not been able to honour Barbara in the way she deserves. We now wish to host an annual event to keep her memory alive.
The speaker at the first Barbara Gray Memorial Lecture will be Charlie Ross, antiques expert, presenter and auctioneer who will probably have seen on BBC programmes. He knew Barbara through the Oxford Operatic Society. His presentation will include many amusing anecdotes of his time as an auctioneer
