Pearls and The Art Deco

You may remember Frances Carlaw from a previous visit when she brought, and talked about, her Pearls.

This talk returns to her knowledge of pearls, their history and science, but weaves in tales from her recent life in rural France, along with a collection of Art Deco jewellery, many pieces of which she has found in France and restored, bringing into the talk the most celebrated designers of the Art Deco period. The talk is illustrated by guests having the opportunity to handle many pearls and Art Deco beads, with advice on how to look after them. Frances promises you a fascinating, and sometimes hilarious, glimpse into a world of beautiful jewellery and mystery through entertaining storytelling.

Her jewellery will be available to buy at the talk, with proceeds donated to charities supporting some of South Africa’s poorest children
