About the Event
We invite you to join us for a great day out to Croome and Tewkesbury. We travel first to Croome Court, to learn of the history of a remarkable survival and a magnificent restoration! Capability Brown’s masterful first commission is the grandest of English landscapes. The parkland and gardens were nearly lost but are now restored to their firmer magnificence.. At the heart of the park lies Croome, once home to the Earls of Coventry. The sixth Earl was an 18th Century trendsetter and today Croome follows his lead working with artists, craftspeople and communities to tell the story of its eclectic pasty ou can visit the RAF visitor centre, once a secret wartime airbase now a museum. Here you can discover Croome’s secrets where in the 1940s, RAF Defford at Croome Park housed over 2000 service personnel and scientists who tested radar to meet new enemy threats.
