About the Event

We   invite you to join us for a relaxing and informative day in the New Forest, a   place synonymous with myth and legend, and where we will take gentle  walks in the footsteps of Kings, Queens, gypsies and smugglers! We meet our   Blue Badge Guide in Plaitford and travel on to a 15th century pub   on the edge of the forest for included morning coffee – always a good start   to the day. Then we enter the enchanting world of the historic forest itself.   We see the famous iron-clad Rufus Stone, perhaps one of the strongest   reminders of the origins of the New Forest, being the spot where King William   II was fatally wounded with an arrow in 1100 AD. We visit the church where   Sherlock Holmes’ “creator”, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, lies buried. Next back to   the pub for an included two-course lunch of roast chicken, new potatoes and   vegetables or vegetarian gnocci, followed by sticky toffee pudding or   ice-cream. In the afternoon we visit the deer enclosure and ornamental drive   at Bolderwood before stopping in Lyndhurst, the “Capital” of the Forest,   where you will have the opportunity to purchase refreshments before   travelling homeward bound after a most enjoyable day.

Please note that tickets are non-refundable
