I am saddened to report that our fellow trustee Pat Eades died in early December.
Pat joined the Oxfordshire board of trustees in June 2016. Pat had been a longstanding member of the WI mostly in Buckinghamshire where she lived with husband Bill, only moving to Henley-on-Thames in recent years where she became a member of Harpsden WI. Pat had previously chaired the Buckinghamshire Federation Membership Committee where she was a Voluntary County Organiser – now known as a WI Adviser.
Pat was our assistant Treasurer during 2017/18, Honorary Treasurer 2018/19, member of Home & Garden Committee and a former member and Chairman of the Combined Arts Committee. Pat took pride in her role as a Group WI Adviser for the WIs in the Beechwood, Shillingford, Thames Valley – and until recently Thameside Groups. It was a role she enjoyedimmensely. Pat was also President of Harpsden WI and served as Group Convenor of the Beechwood Group until recently.
In her short time as an Oxfordshire trustee Pat made a huge contribution, always willing to help, demonstrating her attention to detail and her catering talents. Most recently Pat had coordinated the successful Celebrity Evening with Dame Stella Rimington.
Pat had many varied interests including being an ardent bridge and canasta player, enjoying music and playing croquet, as well as taking great delight in her family. Yet alongside all this it was the WI that played a huge and important part of Pat’s life, and is an organisation to which she was proud to belong and which she encouraged others to enjoy as she had. She will be greatly missed by so many of us. Our thoughts are with her sister, sons and all their families.
