The recent Centenary Art & Craft Exhibition
was a huge success - thank you to all of
you who entered the competition, exhibited
your work and came along to support the
show. My thanks also to those behind the
scenes who ‘made it all happen’. By the time
you read this the evening with Dame Stella
Rimington will have just happened. I’m really
looking forward to hearing her. She truly is
an Inspiring Woman.
There are still some fantastic events to
come before the year ends; a Christmas
decorations workshop, the Christmas
Extravaganza, a seasonal outing to
Dickensian London, all designed to get you
in the festive mood and have fun with like minded
As we near the end of our Centenary Year
thoughts turn toward ‘what next for the WI
in Oxfordshire?’ The Trustees have been
considering how Oxfordshire WI can best
meet the needs of all members going forward.
We also recognise that the expectations of
members are changing as the world around
us changes and, as I’ve often said, that we
must support you all. Whether you look to
Oxfordshire WI for advice in running your
WI, the chance to learn a new craft or to
hear from an interesting speaker - we aim
to provide new ideas and the favourites - do
tell us what you want.
We are about to launch our new website -
www.oxfordshirewi.co.uk. It is the same
website used by WI committee members
to access their Oxfordshire WI email
account. If your WI isn’t using theirs yet do
please contact Louise Kelly at digitalteam@
oxfordshirewi.co.uk. The trustees are excited
to announce that soon we will be offering a
digital version of News & Views, as well as
the printed copy, the choice will be yours.
We want to reach more of you in a way that
best suits you. Look out for more details.
And have you seen the updated fritillary
logo? Not that different you may say, but a
subtle change giving flexibility in how it can
be used; in print or digitally, and of course,
yes, it will be introduced alongside all the
existing fritillary badges and posters.
It’s been a hectic, exciting and very
successful Centenary year - thank you for
supporting it. Look out for a round-up of
photos in January News & Views - do send
us pictures of your centenary events. And as
we enter our next century, I’m sure you will
agree a positive, bright future for Oxfordshire
WI lies ahead for us all.
With my best wishes for Christmas and the
New Year and new decade!
