Dear WI members,
I am writing on behalf of the NFWI Board of Trustees as coronavirus continues to dominate the news. The rapidly changing situation will mean challenging times ahead for many of us, but WI members have always had a reputation for being practical and resourceful, and I’m sure these traits will prevail in this current crisis.
I know you will all try to carry on as normally as possible whilst following the latest Government guidelines, and ensuring that the health of you and your loved ones and those in wider society remains the main priority. I know that you will all keep an eye on others in your communities, especially those who have to self-isolate. Offering to get shopping, sending a card or a letter, or keeping in touch by phone or video call will make a world of difference to them and show them that someone cares. It is important that we stay as connected as possible to alleviate the loneliness and worry that the uncertainty of this situation can bring. Keep an eye on our social media channels and My WI for more ideas about how to support other members of your WI and community at this time.
We have shared with federations our latest policies on how we can safeguard the wellbeing of our staff and volunteers whilst at the same time keeping the WI moving forward as an organisation. This information will be updated regularly and we will continue to keep all federation offices up to date as we react to the changing circumstances.
These are extraordinary times, and looking out for one another, resisting the urge to panic-buy, and remaining calm will help us all get through this – together. Keep safe everyone.
