I’ve suddenly realised that something dire will happen if I don’t get this letter typed, as I am on the cusp of the last possible deadline for our November issue of Oxfordshire Inspires. Looking around this seems a bleak world, so I am not going to touch on atrocities, shortages, hardships and misery, but adopt my usual frivolous style. TV seems not too bad at the moment; a surfeit of detective thrillers filling our airtime with mini-series. Of course, that dancing programme has returned too, so time to sit back, relax and enjoy the contortions of the contestants as they strive to reach some pinnacle of excellence never before dreamt of.
Thank goodness we have our WI to meet up with our pals every month. No glam impossible outfit in which to deck themselves. Comfortable shoes and a warm coat are more the order of the day. Sounds dull? Dare I say mundane? Of course not. If you just take a moment to listen to the happy babble of conversation with a real person (not a virtual), you’ll get my drift. All this is so important to keep up our spirits. Some of you may not have spoken to anyone for a few days, if you live alone for instance. So … belt and braces girls, get out there, your presence is valuable and most definitely required at every meeting. We all love to interact.
I write this some time before the Quiz - some 5 weeks before in actual fact, so I am tempting fate by hoping it was a resounding success. Another slow take up at this stage. Coach trip to Wells was a great success, although the return journey was, I understand, longer than expected. I have only touched on a couple of events, you know there were so many more, hopefully suiting all tastes.
Not resting on our laurels, we have so much more in the pipeline before the big C. And of course, 2023. Yes, we are already planning next year. Do join us. Make it a two-way flow. We need you and, hopefully, you need us.
